USA/Canada Lions Virtual Leadership Experience

September 25, 2020 - September 27, 2020

The USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum will be held virtually this year. The theme is “Racing into the Future with Kindness and Diversity” and there will be segments each day to watch. The cost is only $20 for the entire (virtual) weekend.

What is a Virtual Forum? At a face-to-face Forum, Lions attend the general sessions and seminars. They also like to check out the exhibits and hear from the sponsors. Many would have attended the Lions University Graduation. With our Virtual Leadership Experience, several of these activities will still be available.

On the days of the experience, Lions will be provided a link that will connect to a virtual convention hall. Once there,
Lions will be able to click and choose to join a general session or a seminar. There will also be buttons to click to visit the exhibits, check out Lions University and so much more. Sponsors will have several ways to connect to Lions.

The experience will begin with a General Session on Friday evening, with Chairperson PID Harvey Whitley welcoming everyone, followed by a tribute to the late VP Haynes Townsend, and keynote speaker Katherine Greenland.

Although there won’t be the 80 wonderful seminars that were originally scheduled, the committee is excited to present 19 sessions which focus on the North American Membership Initiative, Individual Enhancement
Plans, Building Success, Dealing with Contentious Members, Attracting Younger Members, and suggestions for Attracting and Retaining Members, as well as Projects for Women and Families. In addition, we will learn how to
charter a Leo Club and successfully sponsor a Campus Club. There will be information on LCI’s Digital Programs and Legal Issues. If you feel uncomfortable Approaching the Younger Generation or if your Zone Meetings need a
make-over, you’ll definitely want to tune into these seminars.

Our International President Dr. Jung Yul Choi will speak at the General Session on Saturday, followed by LCIF Chairperson PIP Gudrun Yngvadottir and KaSondra Byrd who will share information on LCIF’s grant programs. Besides several educational seminars on Saturday afternoon, Four Diamonds will sponsor a Childhood Cancer Symposium, while the City of Hope will present the “Faces of Diabetes Innovation” on Sunday. Furthermore, there will be updates on Campaign 100.

If you ever wondered how the Forum began, join VP Brian Sheehan as he talks with three of our Founding Fathers: PIP Joe Wroblewski, PIP Judge Brian Stevenson, and PID Lacy Presnell, who will not only educate us, but will surely entertain us with their humorous personalities.

To wrap things up on Sunday afternoon, we will hear from our other keynote speaker, Striker Corbin, and get a sneak peek at next year’s Forum Venue: Des Moines.

Visit the Forum’s website for more information and to register.
